Your Mind: The Real Game Changer

I bet all of us can talk about our problems for hours. Something that happened five years ago can still bother us. Imagine wearing your favorite outfit and dropping some ketchup on it. Here's what's going to happen. People will stare, they might make fun of you for a split second but they are not going to care after a point. You, on the other hand, will be upset about it all along. You will focus so much on the part that is stained that all you will be able to think about in that moment will be how to possibly wash it off.

Life is the same. The more you focus on your problems, the more it consumes you. I had to learn it the hard way. We draw this line of comparison between our life and others. Our eyes often see how perfect everyone else's life is; how this one girl went on a late night drive with her folks and how your neighbor played board games with his family during the weekend. Such things keep reminding us of how we cannot have anything close to the perfect, happy life that someone's been living. We start to perceive life differently, like nothing would EVER get better.

But guess what? Life does get better. You might have heard how time is the best healer. Is that entirely true though? I'd argue otherwise. Sure, things do get better with time, but does everything happen on its own? Or do you change the way you perceive your problems? Let me elaborate. It's natural for us to get affected when people judge us or talk behind our back. You'd probably say "It messed with my head a lot." Maybe it did. Months after, you might not feel the same way as you did before. Maybe you stopped caring too much about how others thought. But what led to you adopting this mindset? YOU. You're the game changer, not time. Time is like the sea and you are the sailor. Time can just be a medium for you to get somewhere, but it's you who really gets to decide where you want to go.

Start to change the way you think, the way you perceive, the way you see, the way you feel. If you think you are living your best life, prepare for the setbacks that are yet to come. If you think you're at your worst, prepare to bounce back. Don't rely on others to come help you out when you have all the means to help yourself. You could always wait for things to get better, or you could take charge and create better things for yourself. The ball's in your court.

  2. Very few people potray this concept clearly, you've written this very well here. The concept of "Time fixes everything" is convoluted and people don't realise that. Its actually how we take actions towards the change we expect or want to see... Simply waiting for it to work won't do enough.
